About Us
The Central Jersey Spinal Cord Association (CJSCA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 by Kevin Hoagland. He is President of the all-volunteer Board of Directors. This also includes his brother John Hoagland who is a Trustee and the chairman of the annual golf outing.
CJSCA raises approximately $80,000 annually through an annual golf outing and an annual dinner which includes an Ad Journal, 50/50 Raffle, and Silent Auction. CJSCA also benefits from individual and corporate donations. CJSCA spends 95% of the revenue from its annual fundraising activities on its core mission listed below.
1. CJSCA has raised more than $1,700,000 for spinal cord research, most notably at the Spinal Cord Injury Project at Rutgers University, headed by Dr. Wise Young.
2. CJSCA has provided more than $575,000 in financial assistance to people with spinal cord injuries in central New Jersey for adaptive equipment and home/vehicle modifications.
3. CJSCA provides advocacy for all people with disabilities. CJSCA has sponsored workshops and forums on the Americans with Disabilities Act and has supported local, state, and federal legislation that benefits all people with disabilities.
